About Bearblog
Bearblog is a minimalist blogging platform built around speed, accessibility, and minimalism, focusing on written text. I have a paid account so I can post photos and make multiple blogs.
-
Why I started: I was keeping another blog on Neocities for the “nostalgia” which I didn’t want to close, but which wasn’t easy enough for me to update on the go. Flat and minimal blog platforms popup all the time; I picked this one because customization is CSS-based and I didn’t want to deal with many template files.
-
Why I continued: Maintaining separate, topic-focused blogs helps me declutter my brain. The system worked for me, so I stayed and made more blogs.
-
What it offers me/value: I can write full blog posts from my phone while I’m out & about without cluttering my notetaking app (I hate writing drafts there, it’s not meant for longform writing).
Learning Bearblog
-
Help articles: Reference the Bear Docs for help with getting set up, customization, and other needs.
-
Getting started: It’s very easy to set up and get started. I recommend having a purpose for your blog (even if it’s freewrite or not niche like mine are) because that helps you keep going with it.
Bearblog flows
I have a few blogs, each dedicated to a specific theme, update cadence, and workflow.
Seasons
Reflections and personal thoughts about passing seasons and regional environment. I try to update a few times each month to record seasonal shifts and changing cycles.
Where Were We?
Photo highlights from my camera roll. I try to update monthly (it doesn’t always happen) to create a visual blog of my life and experiences.
Chatscape
Thoughts and reactions on AI/LLMs, plus a repository of AI data settings and instructions. I usually let thoughts percolate for a while, then draft/update a bunch of things at once after observing/reading how people are processing the impacts of this technology.
Gamezilla
Notes and casual write-ups about whatever I’ve been playing lately. Updated sporadically when the mood strikes and I often forget about it.
